Safely reopening Marin County from COVID-19

Religious & Cultural Ceremonies

Current Status

Due to the restrictions of the December 17 Stay-Home-Order: faith based services and cultural ceremonies must only be held outside. Houses of worship are subject to the stated limitations and must comply with Marin County Public Health Officer’s current Public Health Order, as well as all applicable State guidance. Size and layout of ceremonies are restricted to help guests maintain physical distancing, among other health precautions.  Houses of faith are encouraged to continue utilizing online virtual meeting options as much as possible to limit the spread of COVID-19, especially for members with compromised immune systems or other health concerns.

Reopening Guidelines

Each business must create, adopt and implement a Site Specific Protection Plan (SPP) prior to reopening. The SPP template combines state-level guidance published in the California State Resilience Roadmap and local Marin County public health policies.

Please follow the state guidance provided below as it applies to your establishment to create a safer environment for workers and patrons.

Temporary Structures for Outdoor Operations must be in compliance with all applicable State and County guidelines.

Incorporate the industry specific guidelines from the state guidance linked above into the “Business Specific Best Practices” section of your SPP.
